Congrats to the Frost Heaves on a well deserved win. The team is playing like just that, a TEAM. You have come a long way in a short time. Keep up the great work.
On to Rochester, GO Heaves.
I saw alot of improvement with many players. Lets keep it rolling.

The team opened it up playing a faster game and not a patterned offense. They relied on their athletic skills and speed to get to the basket for drives and rebounds, they put some juice on their passes and played with more passion than I've seen since the first game.
They still allowed Manchester to get by them on transition but no where as much as Oklahoma or Halifax did. This is the kind of basketball we've come to expect in Vermont, and playing this type of game will lead to many more wins.
I'm not taking anything away from the win or our guys, but, without Al Stewart or Anthony Anderson or Marlow Currie, the Millrats are not the same team as we've seen in the past. They have a lot of work to do themselves.
The next big test will be this Saturday in Rochester.
Go Heaves!!!

A win is a win...true.
But I have to agree with dog on this one. We beat a very poor playing (2-6) ragtag Millrat team. Nothing to get too excited about yet.
It was a good game....only because the two teams were equal. Not because of outstanding play on either side.

Even as I said we weren't playing the usual Manchester team, I don't want to imply our play wasn't "outstanding"....given where we've been I think the team played outstanding. Rochester will really test our new approach this Saturday.
And as for the spit, which was in front of me, was from Benson after he had been elbowed in the mouth (no call) and was bleeding.

I saw the elbow BUT there was about 100 paper cups on the floor under the teams seats. Last year spitters were called Thugs

I agree totally with racingwife who said, "Congrats to the Frost Heaves on a well deserved win. The team is playing like just that, a TEAM. You have come a long way in a short time. Keep up the great work. "
We beat the best the Millrats had to offer. It makes no sense to say the Rats weren't their usual selves. They are the Rats team. We no longer have Ty Leavitt, or Eric, or Will etc etc, but we are the Frost Heaves. I am saying that players come and go. To represent our win on Tuesday as anything less that a well earned win (because the opposing team lost some players) is silly and needless and uninteresting.

Or should we wait for another few wins??

From what I saw, they got out played and out coached. www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20100207/SPORTS/2070365/1007/SPORTS/Rochester-RazorSharks-lose-second-straight-game"Was there a line we needed to cover? At this level, you need to put yourself in a position to win and we didn't do that tonight," said Baker after Rochester cut the Vermont lead to four in the closing minutes. "It looked like we took them for granted tonight. It's too hard of a fight

It doesn't matter what the other team says, "we're back". All teams, even us, rely on "excuses" - remember, "we haven't had much practice time"?
We're now a run and shoot team taking advantage of our guard speed and opportunities on the offensive side. We're fighting for rebounds on the defensive side to create those offensive opportunities. We've cut down on our turnovers, at least, at critical moments, and have held leads. The fouls we're giving up are closer to the basket. And the team play is improving every game.
I like our chances now, especially as we begin to play at home for the bulk of our remaining games.
Any posters up for the "shuffle off to Buffalo" road trip? It's only 8 hours out and 8 hours back!
GO HEAVES!!

Coach Strom was giving information, not making excuses. That statement, after two or three games played, of "we've only had 25 minutes of practice as a team" needs to be remembered by all.
DR, I know you are a most sincere Frost Heaves fan. No question. And I am not telling you what to post or not to post, you're ok. But please tell me if I ever say anything comforting about our rivals.

We played well against a usually strong team. We have also been stronger and weaker, depending on the team and injuries. Each team has its ups and downs.
Who would have thougt that Rochester would have lost two games in a row. They have a stout team as usual, as does Puerto Rico, Halifax and Oklahoma.
We can turn this season around, and we just started that at our opening game in Barre last week.

TR, we beat the Razorsharks last night. The 2 time PBL champions. Can we get excited now? Or should we wait for another few wins?? A few more wins would get me more excited, yes. We are 2-4...remember? Thats 2 wins and 4 losses. And calling Rochester the 2 time champions is still a matter of opinion.
