We're working on establishing a non-profit organization to raise sufficient funds to be able to play this coming season.
If you want more information, come to a meeting on Wednesday, June 23 from 600 to 800 pm at Twin City Lanes on the Barre-Montpelier Road or call 479-5456.
Additional community meetings will be scheduled shortly. I realize this is short notice, but we've only been working on this new proposal over the past week and a half. Our toughest opponent now is the calendar as we do not have a lot of time to raise funds.
Thanks - Go Heaves!

How fortuitous; I haven't checked this site for months........ Hard to imagine fans running this team. Can you give more details? Have you started brainstorming? Where does Mike Healey stand? Can we get ARRA Federal Funding? What's the ballpark guess on the gross cost ..... without deducting possible income?
Are we out of the PBL? Would we join Rochester's call for a local league? Could we play PBL clubs too?

DR, you're a good person; Coach R. is too. I am not so good at meetings. Maybe my thoughts can reach you from here and maybe they are just unreasonable.
The Times Argus said (??) we needed to raise 100K to show we are viable ?? Or did they say we needed to send the PBL 100K to show we are viable ??
I hope the focus of any money raised is the players and not the overhead charged by the PBL. Millions for the players; not a cent for the PBL....... (you recall that analogy: millions for defense not a cent for tribute." ......... Any fund raising by the fans or the owners must go to the players first. They need to be properly fed, properly housed; properly coached; properly paid and promoted.
I hope your fund raising effort is player directed.

The next "huddle-up" session is scheduled for Tuesday, July 6 from 630 to 730 pm at Kellogg-Hubbard Library in Montpelier. Hope to see you there!

We're continuing to raise money through our business partnerships and fan memberships called "starting line-up". Money is coming in from both fans and businesses, but we still are battling a tough opponent - the calendar. If you haven't yet purchased your "starting line-up" waiting will only hurt us. If you know of other fans, please make sure they know what you know as gaining access to all of our fans has been a challenge.
We've added two community meetings, called "huddle-up" sessions. A total of three remain- Monday, July 12 at Twin City Lanes from 630 to 730 pm Thursday, July 22 at Alumni Hall next to the Aud from 600 to 700 pm Tuesday, July 27 at Alumni Hall next to the Aud from 600 to 700 pm
Please come to one of these sessions, and please buy into the fan membership program - the clock's tickin' and we need EVERYONE's help.
Go Heaves!

Go Heaves, Inc. is making progress and we have a number of upcoming opportunities to keep the word out there. We're waiting for some of our most dedicated fans to buy a starting line-up. Waiting will only hurt our effort and will call into question the support we actually have from our biggest fans to pull this off.
Remember ALL MONEY RECEIVED before August 1 will be returned in full if we don't reach our goal.
Look for Go Heaves at: Vermont Mountaineers baseball game for a 50-50 on Tuesday, July 20 Community Meeting at Alumni Hall in Barre from 6 to 7 pm Barre Heritage Festival on Saturday, July 24 throughout the day Community Meeting at Alumni Hall in Barre from 6 to 7 pm

We have about $22,000 cash in hand with another $10,000 in the pipeline that we know of and after only a couple of weeks. Fans are responding to the starting line-up packages and business sponsorships are coming in. We still have another two weeks and we need everyone's help now! If you haven't yet decided to help and are waiting to see how close we get, that waiting will hurt our effort as people may not buy-in if they think we're not making enough progress - it's a disastrous cycle. Please remember all money received through the sponsorships and starting line-ups will be returned in the event we fail to reach our goal. Here's what we need now from all of our fans, former players and sponsors: 1. Become a member of the starting line-up today by letting me know you intend to send your check as soon as possible. This way I can count you as being in the pipeline. If you're out of the area, you can always decide to donate your starting line-up. 2. Let me know if you want to help bring businesses into the Frost Heaves family - we don't have enough people selling sponsorships. There's a lot of ground to cover and only a couple of people are doing this work right now. We've contacted a lot of businesses already so let me know who you want to reach out to before doing so to make sure we're not duplicating our effort. We have some upcoming events: Tuesday, July 20 - we're doing a 50-50 raffle at the Vermont Mountaineers baseball game in Montpelier Thursday, July 22 - Huddle Up session at Alumni Hall, next to the Aud, from 6 to 7 pm Friday and Saturday, July 23 and July 24 - we have a booth at the Barre Heritage Festival - prizes and surprises - Bump will also lead a team of fans during the Truck Pull at 830 am next to the Library, and then hustle his fuzzy bustle to the parade staging area. Tuesday, July 27 - our final pre-August 1 Huddle Up session at Alumni Hall in Barre from 6 to 7 pm Many of you have sent me ideas about how to recruit players, handle game day activities, etc....the reality is if we don't reach our goal of $100,000, there's no need to recruit players or think thru game day activities. It's crunch time for the Frost Heaves....no one will make this happen unless we do. Thanks and hope to see ya in the stands. Don Mandelkorn Go Heaves, Inc.

It's crunch time - we've got 1 week left and while we're making real progress, we still need our most ardent and dedicated fans to step up and make a pledge to become part of our starting line-up (see the July 7 post below).
If we don't do this, no one else will!!!
GO Heaves!!

Check out this morning's Times-Argus (July 28) for a great update. Last night, we finished our pre-August 1 series of Huddle Up sessions with fans and businesses.
We have 5 days left to raise about $15,000. If you've not yet considered purchasing your "starting line-up" (see the details in the July 7 post above), now's the time. You can offer your purchase as a pledge now, and we can collect after August 1 should we successfully complete the challenge.
As has been stated before, waiting to see what happens will only hurt the effort. If you've already purchased or pledged your fan membership, we're deeply grateful for you coming to the aid of your team.
Feel free to contact me at 479-5456 or donmandelkorn@hotmail.com. See ya in the stands!
