It's Official, Heaves out of Playoffs -

Barre, VT - The Vermont Frost Heaves regretfully have to announce that they have been eliminated from the PBL Post Season playoffs.

With the PBL decision to readmit the Aerocibo Capitanes to the league, the Frost Heaves find themselves in 5th place in the standings. With the PBL playoffs being the top 4 teams in the league we have been eliminated from the playoffs.

The Frost Heaves finish the 2010 season with a respectable 12 wins and 8 losses in Coach Joe Salerno's inaugural season as Head Coach. The Frost Heaves were led in scoring by Marshall Brown who averaged 16.8 points per game followed by Juwan Bailey at 13.9 points per game and Dwuan Rice at 12.5 points per game. Ross Demasi led the team in Rebounding at 9.2 boards per game.

Both Dwuan Rice and Ross Demasi will participate in the PBL All Star game in Halifax on May 2nd.

The Frost Heaves would like to thank all of the sponsors who supported us this year and a very special thank you to all of the fans who rang the cowbells, and supported us along the way. It was a season filled with many challenges, but it was nice to know we always had the support of our fans and our sponsors. THANK YOU!

There will be a chance to say good bye to the players this Thursday from 4 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the basement at the Aud in Barre. Come get autographs, have a bite to eat and say hello to the players and staff.

I have 2 wishes:

1. For the players and coaches of Rochester, Puerto Rico, Oklahoma, and Halifax - have a great tournament!!!

2. For the Premier Basketball Leage - try to learn something from this experience. Not being an insider knowing all of the issues between the league and Puerto Rico, and caring even less, you made a commitment to Vermont that you've now reneged on, and that makes me feel you're not even close to being "premier".

I wish we would have know this before Friday nights game. The players and the coaches could have had one last of everything. One last warm up, pregame pep talk, prayer, game and a post game. The PBL took that away from everyone. It seems this league has a problem scheduling playoff games. (Last year there was a big mess up too.) I don't understand how any kind of league can pull this type of trash. It was a very entertaining year, and they can't take that away.

I agree with everyone. After the Fiasco last year with Battle Creek and Rochester going to 1 game for the championship. It seems that there is some major conflict of interest in upper management in the PBL. Is is really any different than the ABA at this point?

It is all a mute point. Our team did great. we must play with the cards that we were dealt and say goodbye to our team on thursday and wish them all well.

yes, we are frustrated, but all in all, it turned out to be a great season. GO HEAVES. See everyone in 2011 =)

I find it interesting the PBL has, evidently, chosen to ignore this issue on their website. An acknowledgment, at least, that this is an unfortunate set of circumstances would be a sign of class.

The ABA drama was always season long, with teams getting shafted along the way. The PBL seems to wait until playoff time. I am not sure which is worse.

The PBL and the RazorSharks give a new meaning to the phrase "in a league of their own" ;D

I think that everyone will agree that the FH made the playoffs by default. It seems as though the PBL could have done something to compensate us once Puerto Rico was reinstated. IMO, any type of guesture would have made good business sense. But what do I know? I am just a fan.
